As part of the Week Without Driving, we invite you to join us to try out Adaptive Cycling with our friends at Access Mob Pittsburgh and Age-Friendly Greater Pittsburgh.
Please register here so we can contact you in case of rain cancellations: https://forms.gle/J2fBRPzRyz9FvxqT7
Who: Anyone and everyone, regardless of disability status or experience level in cycling.
What: A fun afternoon of trying out some adaptive bicycles, tricycles, and more!
When: Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 1-4 PM.
Where: Allegheny Landing, on Pittsburgh’s North Shore.
Transportation:
Public Transit: The closest transit stop is at the corner of Sandusky St and Isabella St. You can ride the 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, and P13 outbound from Downtown and get off at that intersection, or you can take the 1, 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, 16, and 17 inbound, get off at Sandusky St and General Robinson St, and walk one block to Sandusky St and Isabella St. There will be volunteers at Sandusky St and Isabella St to direct or escort people from the stop to the riding location.
ACCESS / Drop-off: The drop-off location for ACCESS and other vehicles is 12 Federal St. There will be volunteers at the site to direct or escort people to the riding location.
Car: As this event is part of the Week Without Driving, we strongly encourage people to walk/roll/use public transit, but we understand that this is impractical for many people with disabilities. There is limited on-street parking available on Isabella St, and there is a paid parking lot two blocks away at 20 E General Robinson St.
Accessibility:
ASL: There will be an ASL interpreter available on-site from 1-4 PM.
Bathrooms: There are port-o-potties, including two accessible port-o-potties, located near the site.
Transferring: This activity is most suitable for people who can transfer with minimal assistance. Access Mob will have several volunteers on hand to help with basic transfers, but we will not have equipment like a Hoyer lift on-site. For those who require specialized assistance in transferring we recommend bringing along an attendant who is trained in how to best work with you.
Seating: There is limited seating at the site. If you cannot stand for long amounts of time, we recommend you coming with your assistive device or bringing something to sit on.
Masking: Masking is strongly encouraged, but not required. This is an outdoor event in a wide, well-ventilated space, but as it’s a public park we have no ability to require masking of anyone in the area.
Weather:
This is a fair weather activity only! In the event of rain, we will announce that the event is canceled on this site and via our mailing lists.
Miscellaneous:
POGOH Reservations: You do not need to have a POGOH reservation in their system to come try out one of their adaptive bikes during this event, but we ask that you please register on our Google Form so we we have an idea of how many people we are expecting.
Shore Thing: Our event is right next to Riverlife‘s awesome (and accessible!) party barge! We encourage folks to head down there and check it out during or after the event!
Get ready for a little Halloween fun on the trail! During normal Adaptive POGOH hours, 10 AM – 4 PM, on October 25th at the Eliza Furnace Trailhead, riders can join us for Hallo-wheels: Adaptive POGOH Does Trick-or-Treat.
Come out for an Adaptive POGOH ride just like you normally would – or make your ride a little more festive by joining our trick-or-treat hunt along the trail! We’ll have a map showing all of the treat stops, so riders can cruise from one location to the next and collect some Halloween goodies along the way.
At the Adaptive POGOH Hub, enjoy apple cider, light refreshments, games and a few spooky decorations before or after your ride.
Want to ride? You can reserve a cycle as usual, or stop by for a drop-in ride if a cycle is available. Please note that Adaptive POGOH serves riders ages 14 and older. Families are still welcome to bring younger children along on their own bikes, and kids riding with their families can participate in the trick-or-treat hunt and collect treats, too!
Participating in the treat hunt is completely optional – feel free to simply come out and enjoy a ride!
Come ride, explore, and celebrate the season with us! Costumes are not required, but encouraged!
This is our final month of operation for the season, so now is your last chance to get out on the trail and enjoy an Adaptive POGOH ride! Whether you’ve been riding with us all season or have been meaning to come check us out, we’d love to see you before we wrap up for the year. Come make one more ride, one more adventure, and one more great memory with us!
Adaptive POGOH is excited to be partnering with the Blind Outdoor Leisure Development group this season to expand opportunities for connection, community, and tandem cycling.
Want to ride with BOLD?
BOLD is growing its community of tandem bicycle captains, and we’d love to connect with people who are interested in volunteering! If you’re an experienced cyclist, would like to help make bicycling more accessible, enjoy riding with others, and might be interested in becoming a BOLD tandem captain, we’d love to hear from you.

Have you had a great ride, discovered a new favorite route, tried something new, or just had a fun day out on the bike? We’d love to hear about it – and, with your permission, share these stories with the broader Adaptive POGOH community.
You can sign up for a short, casual interview with us, or send us your own photos, videos, or written stories. There’s no need to have a big story – we just want to celebrate the people, rides and moments that make Adaptive POGOH special!
