POGOH Receives Living Lab Grant!

Better Bike Share Partnership Announces Second Cohort of Living Lab Partners Focused on Equity

Bike Share Pittsburgh, POGOH, is excited to announce that we're one of 3 cities to be awarded the 2024 Living Lab Grant! Earlier this year, the Better Bike Share Partnership (BBSP) launched the second round of Living Labs, a program designed to support, showcase, and learn lessons from partnerships that are addressing a key barrier to access and use of shared micro-mobility (SMM) for communities of color and those living with limited incomes. Pittsburgh is joined alongside Tuscon, AZ and Los Angeles, CA, who will all work to build more equitable bikeshare programs in their cities through the BBSP Living Labs award.

Other BBSP Living Labs have broken down barriers related to: transit integration, youth access, representation in the decision-making process, pricing, commuting, system expansion, and adaptive micro-mobility.

POGOH’s mission is to provide Pittsburgh with a joyful, sustainable, and affordable mobility service for all residents and visitors. Our projects will target historically underserved communities and our engagement efforts will be focused on rider confidence while breaking down barriers to biking.

The Living Lab Grant is an opportunity for POGOH to better understand mobility barriers in Homewood and create solutions through improved and expanded access to bike share, community bike rides and learn to ride events, and Confident City Cycling classes.

POGOH will partner with Homewood Children's Village, The UrbanKind Institute, Westinghouse Academy, and Safe Routes to Schools to address neighborhood needs, provide safe cycling education opportunities, ultimately build a better bike share program for Homewood residents. We're excited to get started and to do this work with our community partners in Homewood and build the best bike share program for Pittsburgh.
